Thermoplastic resin (resinatermoplastica.com.br)

Synthetic resins are polymers, among which there are thermoset and thermoplastic resins.

The thermoplastic resin is an artificial polymer that at a certain temperature reaches a high viscosity and, thus, can be molded.

The raw material for plastics is petroleum, from which the fraction of naphtha is supplied to petrochemical manufacturers. As the compounds have different boiling temperatures, it is possible to separate them through a process known as distillation or cracking.

After series of processes, the main monomers are obtained, e.g. ethane.

Ethane can also be obtained from renewable raw materials, as e.g., from sugar cane. It is the so called Green Ethane, that provides for biopolymers.

Different types of thermoplastic resins are:

PET - Polyethylene terephthalate
PEAD - High density polyethylene
PEBD - Low density polyethylene
PP - Polypropylene
PVC - Polyvinyl Chloride
ABS - Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene
PA - Polyamide
PC - Polycarbonate
PELBD - Linear low density polyethylene
EVA - Ethylene-Vinyl-Acetate
PTA - Purified terephtalic acid
PS - Polystyrene

The pellets of the different products produced in petrochemical companies are transferred inside their plants by pneumatic conveying systems, homogenized in blenders or stored in silos before being dispatched to plastic processors.

The products can be dispatched in bags, BigBags, containers with internal liner or resin dump tank trucks.

For all these alternatives, pneumatic conveying, blending, storage, loading and unloading (Bulktilter®), among others, Zeppelin Systems Latin America offers the best solutions for different products and needs.
